Reality shows?

January 17, 2012 By: larry Category: My opinion, ramblins

av imageI would dearly like to see the tables turned on some of these so called reality shows such as Man Tracker.
For instance, the trackee sneaks up and steals his horse at night while he sleeps….why wouldn’t that work?

Christmas eve 2011

December 24, 2011 By: larry Category: daily adventures, Latest posts, ramblins

Well here it is again, that time of year when the nights, although they are getting shorter, seem to last forever.
I try to put down my feelings on here but I just can’t put my finger on them… I can’t express myself in words, I ramble on from one depressing thought to another, like a leaf in a river bumping first one obstacle then the other.

In my last post, I listed some of the more important things that have happened this year to influence my life, But I am caught up in the anticipation of things to come and surely they will.

As of this writing I have heard not a word from any so-called family member regarding what I am doing tonight for Christmas eve, nor have I received an invite. I will make a couple of calls tonight to my family who live out of state and them that live here but too far away to visit. The others that do not call or get in touch with me before morning will be removed from my list of people I care about.

Merry Christmas

Coming to a close

December 18, 2011 By: larry Category: Misc, ramblins

av imageI thought with the year coming to an end soon, I would post some of the things that have most influenced my life this year.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I turned 67.
I became a great Grandfather again.
A son was born to my Granddaughter Lenora
whom she named Deklyn.
My youngest Granddaughter Marci moved into her own apartment with her boyfriend.
The depression that I harbored for so many years lessened somewhat with the realization that things would never be the way I want them to be here on the home place.
I composed a new CD with original songs on it.
The top fell in on our septic tank.
I took my first trip to the Tomahawk fall ride.
I lived with good friends for a short time, I consider them my family now.
My wife of 32 years Moved out…again… and wants a divorce.
*side note
Shes moving back in the trailer, knowing we can not share the same space anymore and me retain my sanity….such is the way of the self righteous.
A good friend whom I consider family stays with me.
My brother in Oklahoma calls me almost daily.
All these things happening at once leads me to believe there will be even greater changes in my life in 2012…
We shall see
Here we go again
here-we-go-again
Well the inevitable has happened again. As I type this there is a small ceramic heater running on low setting in the unfinished well house thawing (hopefully) my water lines. All the latest happenings around the Cops household seem to stem from the fact that I put off doing what needs to be done in favor of a later date when it might be more comfortable to work outside. The comfortable days come and other things take precedence, then things go from bad to worse.
Halloween night
halloween-night
I really have some truly wonderful friends.
In order to save me the embarrassment of puking on the couch, or the living room carpet, or the cat, in that order, again, three of them carried, or lifted me, up stairs to my bed which was 100 feet further from the bathroom. Up stairs, yes, much safer up there. Up there I can think clearer, and commune with my inner self much more so than anywhere else.
For instance, last night, while laying there communing, I developed a charley horse in my big toe, my inner self said “just relax the muscle and it will go away“. By golly it worked.
But I also learned not to totally trust that little voice when I had to take a leak and decided it was too far to the bathroom, so I tried that muscle relaxing thing again.
And so it goes
and-so-it-goes
After the latest episode I had with my truck being tied up for 5 days undergoing a clutch repair, it was a welcome relief to have it back in service and running better, so thinking all was well, I took a trip to town to do some shopping.
Upon my return home some 3 hours later I found the new water pump out of power and dry. DRAT!.
Now what?
Checked the breaker, not thrown.
Checked the wiring, had power.
Checked the water pressure, nada.
Checked the pump for overheating, cool to the touch.
Checked the pressure switch, no power.
How can this be I asked myself.
Then, while moving the contacts in the switch, I saw a tiny spark in one side when it made contact.
There was a small piece of plastic like material melted onto the face of the contact keeping it from making a good connection. Shazam!. Another minor problem solved, and another item to add to my long list of things that make me pull my hair out, if I had any hair to pull out.
meanwhile back at the ranch
With the recent clear, nice weather we are having here in the Northwoods, I am contemplating getting some things done that really need to be done before the onset of winter.
The first and foremost is the construction of a shed over my water pump to insulate it.
Second is to repair two broken copper water lines under the floor of the trailer that provide water to the massage room and shower, this will enable me to add a toilet to the room, thereby eliminating the need for the existing toilet in the rear of the trailer and the 60 foot run of septic pipe which freezes every year.
Then I can get an idea of how hard it is going to be to actually live through my sixty seventh winter without freezing my tail off.
Amazing video and a question
August 10, 2011 By: larry Category: Big Business, Misc, My opinion, points to ponder
Here is the video…
The man in the video is Aged 96 and still smokes a pipe.
My grandmother aged 92 still dipped Garretts snuff, as did most all of her friends/relation whom I also knew in that age bracket.
They all ate much more “unhealthy” by today’s standards, yet they died from the same causes we die from today only later in life (for the most part).
My guess as to why the above is true would be that there have been more advances in the addition of harmful chemicals for financial gain by “big business”, than beneficial research by government agencies.
Is that a fair statement?
Your comments are welcomed.
